IDLES at Nightclub 101

On Wednesday, I attended the inaugural Reading 101, a new reading series hosted by Alexis Nowicki and Maria Robins-Somerville. The reading took place in the lower-level of Nightclub 101 in the East Village, and it was awesome. Above us, in the main room, IDLES were playing a semi-secret show in the 300-cap room.

After the reading, I snuck into the show right as the band ripped into “Mother,” an undeniable song. I pushed my way to the front and shouted along to cuts from the bands first two LPs, plus their contribution to the new Darren Aronofsky movie, Caught Stealing. It was a sweaty, emphatic show, the band’s stage presence is unparalleled, and I had a blast.

Equipment and Marble Teeth at The Swarmyard

Capping off two days of Fauxchella 8, Equipment and Marble Teeth played an acoustic set at local BG DIY institution The Swarmyard. While this gig was sadly The Swarmyard’s last, it was a marvelous time with Quippy playing a one-of-a-kind three-hour all-request set.

CPS and Wrong Worshippers at Crofton’s Pretzels

Two two-piece bands ripped through a night of shreddy, dirty, mathy, proggy rock and fucking roll in Wilmington’s finest pretzel establishment. It was loud, the riffs were heavy, and the pretzels were delicious.
